AT SUZUKI TALENT EDUCATION OF PASADENA,
We believe in the power of music education to awaken your child's innate ability and talent. Learning to play the violin or viola is an experience that goes far beyond simply playing the instrument. Music education -- specifically, learning to play an instrument -- builds a foundation for understanding complexity, for approaching problems with confidence, and for perceiving the beauty in great art. Not only that, it teaches children to work together and support one another as a community. At STEP, we believe that this kind of experience is available to all, not only to the "talented."
"Good talent always grows where good method and good efforts are present." - Shinichi Suzuki
Our experienced teachers embrace the educational philosophy of Shinichi Suzuki: the idea that all children are innately talented. This talent is awakened when teachers and parents nurture children's abilities step-by-step, inspiring their best efforts with love and not fear, in an environment of excellence and community.
To that end, STEP students take both private and group lessons each week. To become part of STEP, first enroll your child in private lessons with a STEP teacher. You can read about our teachers and e-mail us from the "Teachers" page. Once established with a private teacher, enroll your child in our weekly group classes which take place Monday nights during the school year at San Marino Congregational United Church of Christ, 2560 Huntington Dr., San Marino, CA 91108.
STEP is a Chapter of the LA Branch of SMAC (Suzuki Music Association of California).
